Reading Stats & Filters
Filters are how you narrow what you're looking at. The site has two kinds of filter that look similar but behave differently. Learn the difference once here and every other page makes sense.
Two kinds of filter

- List filters (on the home tabs) work instantly in your browser. Tick a box and the list updates straight away — no waiting.
- Match- and player-page filters are more powerful: they recompute each player's history when you apply them.
Both kinds remember your choices for next time (details below).
The stat modes and columns
Across the stats tables you'll meet a few recurring choices:
- Timeframe / Date range — how far back to look: All, Last Week, Last 2 Weeks, Last Month, Last 3 Months, Last 6 Months, Last Year, Last 2 Years.
- Surface — All, Hard, Clay, Grass, Indoor (Carpet is rare). See the surface note below.
- Ranking type — TP Ranking (our own rating) vs Standard (the official world ranking). More in Odds & Rankings.
Surfaces

| Surface | What it covers | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Hard | Outdoor hard only | Firm, medium-fast outdoor courts |
| Clay | Clay | Slow, high bounce, long rallies |
| Grass | Grass | Fast, low bounce, short season |
| Indoor | Any covered court (usually fast hard) | Indoor arenas |
| Carpet | Legacy fast indoor | Rare on the modern tour |
The +/- number after a stat

Many stats show a green or red +/- number next to them. This tells you how far above or below the typical player this player is, for that stat, among similar players (same tour level and surface). Green = better than typical, red = worse.
A control called Difference: relative / absolute changes only how that gap is shown:
- Absolute — the plain gap in points (e.g.
+16.2). - Relative — that same gap as a percentage of the typical value
(e.g.
+27.3), which makes small differences easier to see.
Same stat, same gap — two ways of expressing it.
Show breakdown — the (210/264) behind a percentage

Turn on Show breakdown and each percentage gains a bracket of raw counts,
e.g. 79.5% (210/264). Those two numbers are how often it happened out of how
many chances — here, held serve 210 times out of 264 service games (210 ÷ 264
= 79.5%). A bigger second number means a bigger sample, so a more reliable figure.
Do my choices stay set?
Yes — the site remembers your filter choices between visits. On the home tabs, your Tour-type / Time / Strategy choices are shared across all tabs, while the player-search and price filters are remembered per tab. On match and player pages your filter set is remembered too.
Clearing everything
Every filter bar has a Reset that returns the filters to their defaults. Use it whenever a page looks empty or you want a clean start.
Why did my results empty out?
If you stack several narrow filters, you can filter everything away. If a table goes blank, loosen or Reset the filters.
Tips & Tricks
- Turn on Show breakdown to see the sample behind a percentage — a big denominator means a more trustworthy number.
- Use Relative difference on low-scoring stats to make small but real gaps easier to spot.
- When a table looks empty, Reset. Stacking narrow filters can hide everything.
- Filter surfaces carefully: "Hard" is outdoor hard only — switch to "Indoor" for indoor-hard history.
FAQ
Do my filter choices stay set when I come back later? Yes — home-list and deep-page filters are remembered between visits.
What does the "TP Ranking vs Standard" choice actually change? It switches which ranking is used — our own TP surface rating or the official ranking. On the leaderboards it re-sorts the table. See Odds & Rankings.
What does the green / amber / red colouring on a stat mean? Green = clearly above the typical level, amber = around it, red = clearly below. A few "good when low" stats have the colours flipped.
What does the "+/-" number after a stat tell me? How far above or below the typical similar player this player is, for that stat. Green is better, red is worse.
What does "Show breakdown" add?
The raw counts behind each percentage, e.g. 79.5% (210/264) — how often it
happened out of how many chances.
Why did my results empty out after I set a filter? Too many narrow filters can hide everything. Loosen them or Reset.
